Also Mina's relationsship to Dracula is quite interestingly described by the main character himself. You didn't see that character in that light before reading Saberhagen's book. His description of Van Helsing is outstanding. Dracula gets a human component here and illuminates the motivations of the other characters involved. This is extremely well done and convincing narrated by the author. Why? Here Dracula tells and comments his own version of the story and what really happened from his point of view.
